ฤๅษีเปลือยกายแห่งเวสาลี ผู้ที่ชาววัชชีให้ความเคารพนับถืออย่างสูงเพราะข้อวัตรอันเคร่งครัดของตน แต่การปฏิบัติอย่างไม่สุภาพต่อผู้มาซักถามทำให้พระพุทธเจ้าทรงพยากรณ์ว่าในที่สุดเขาจะเสื่อมจากข้อวัตรและชื่อเสียง ซึ่งก็เป็นไปตามนั้นจริง ๆ

A naked ascetic of Vesāli held in high esteem by the Vajjī for his strict vows of asceticism, whose disrespectful treatment of a questioner led the Buddha to predict his eventual fall from these vows and from fame, exactly as it came to pass.
