암사슴에 대한 사랑 때문에 위험을 알면서도 수확기에 마을까지 따라간 산 수사슴에 관한 자타카로, 암사슴은 달아났지만 매복해 있던 사냥꾼들에게 붙잡혀 죽임을 당하니, 이를 지켜본 숲의 여신이 타인의 지배에 스스로를 내맡기는 것을 포함한 세 가지 치욕에 관한 가르침을 이끌어낸다는 이야기이다.

A Jātaka about a mountain stag whose devotion to a doe leads him to follow her into a village at harvest time despite the danger, only to be caught and killed by ambushing hunters while she escapes, witnessed by a forest deity who draws from it teachings on three kinds of infamy, including yielding oneself to another’s domination.
