仏陀の奇跡を目撃した老女の本生物語。そのような奇跡が仏陀の最終生に限られないことを示すため、サンカッサの奇跡の後に語られた。老女はウッパラヴァンナーと同一視される。

A birth-story of an old woman who witnessed the Buddha’s wonders, told after the miracle at Saṅkassa to show that such marvels were not confined to his final life; the woman is identified with Uppalavaṇṇā.

バーラーナシーの裕福なバラモンの子である苦行者カンハの本生物語。ヒマヴァーでの厳しい苦行のため財産を放棄し、サッカから恩恵を授かった。カンハが瞑想した場所での仏陀の微笑みを説明するため阿難に語られた。

A birth-story of the ascetic Kaṇha, a wealthy brahmin’s son of Bārāṇasī who renounced his fortune for rigorous asceticism in the Himavā and was granted boons by Sakka, told to Ānanda to explain the Buddha’s smile at the spot of Kaṇha’s meditations.
