날란다에서 설해진 경으로, 부처가 개종자를 얻기 위한 기적을 허락해달라는 거사의 요청을 거절하고, 대신 사대가 소멸하는 곳을 찾아 하늘을 헛되이 헤맨 비구의 비유를 들려주며, 결국 그 답은 부처 자신에게서 배워야 했다고 설한다.

A discourse at Nāḷandā in which the Buddha refuses a householder’s request to authorize a miracle to win converts, instead relating the parable of a monk who searches the heavens in vain for where the elements cease, only to learn the answer from the Buddha himself.
