พระสูตรที่นาลันทา ซึ่งพระพุทธเจ้าทรงปฏิเสธคำขอของคหบดีที่จะทรงอนุญาตให้แสดงปาฏิหาริย์เพื่อชักจูงผู้คนให้เลื่อมใส แต่กลับตรัสเล่าอุปมาเรื่องภิกษุผู้เที่ยวค้นหาในสวรรค์ชั้นต่างๆ อย่างไร้ผลว่าธาตุทั้งสี่ดับที่ใด จนต้องกลับมาเรียนคำตอบจากพระพุทธเจ้าเอง

A discourse at Nāḷandā in which the Buddha refuses a householder’s request to authorize a miracle to win converts, instead relating the parable of a monk who searches the heavens in vain for where the elements cease, only to learn the answer from the Buddha himself.
