တောထဲတွင် ရဟန္တာဖြစ်ပြီး၊ တရားထိုင်နေစဉ် ခိုးသူအုပ်စုတစ်စုက သစ်ငုတ်ဟု ထင်မှတ်ကာ ၎င်းတို့၏ ခိုးရာပစ္စည်းများကို ထိုသူ့ပေါ်တွင် ပုံထားခဲ့ရာမှ ခါဏု (သစ်ငုတ်) ဟု အမည်ရရှိသော မထေရ်တစ်ပါး။

A thera who attained Arahantship in the forest and, while absorbed in meditation, was mistaken for a tree stump by a gang of thieves who piled their loot on him, earning him the name Khāṇu (‘stump’).
