벽지불에 대한 보시를 그 무엇도 방해하지 못하게 하려고 마라가 만든 불타는 숯 구덩이에 발을 내디딘 바라나시의 재무관(보살)의 자타카로, 과도한 보시로 거의 파산할 뻔했던 아나타삔디까의 일화와 관련하여 전해진다
