Sāmāvatī 왕비의 여종이었으나 붓다의 설법을 듣고 예류과를 얻은 뒤 왕비와 그 시녀들에게 법을 가르쳤고, 붓다에 의해 재가 여신도 가운데 다문(多聞) 제일로 선언되었다.

A slave of Queen Sāmāvatī who became a Stream-winner after hearing the Buddha teach, then taught the Dhamma to the queen and her attendants, and was declared by the Buddha foremost among laywomen in learning.
