오백 명의 안내인을 이끄는 삼림인(보디삿타)에 관한 자타카로, 동료들이 도망치는 동안 그 홀로 버티며 대상(隊商)을 습격하는 도적들을 물리치고, 영웅적인 일을 하려는 자는 목숨을 가볍게 여겨야 한다고 설명한다. 본분에 대한 의욕을 잃은 비구와 관련하여 이야기되었다.

A Jātaka about a forester, the Bodhisatta, leader of five hundred guides, who alone stood his ground and drove off robbers attacking a caravan while his companions fled, explaining that one who would do heroic deeds must hold life lightly — told with reference to a monk who had lost energy in his duties.
