序話でコーサンビー（Kosambī）の比丘たちが激しい口論に陥り、仏陀が忍耐の教訓としてコーサラ（Kosala）王ディーギーティ（Dīghīti）の物語を語った後、彼らを論争のままにして去ったことを語るジャータカで、本生話自体はその物語の断片のみを伝える。

A Jātaka whose framing story recounts how the monks of Kosambī fell into bitter quarrelling, prompting the Buddha to tell them the tale of King Dīghīti of Kosala as a lesson in forbearance before leaving them to their dispute; the birth-story itself preserves only a fragment of that tale.
