A birth-story about a toucan whose helpful suggestion that a shivering monkey build a nest is repaid with the monkey destroying the bird’s own nest out of envy, told of a jealous novice who burned down Mahā-Kassapa’s hut after being repeatedly outshone by a more diligent companion.
