一則本生故事，講菩薩託生為鹿王，其兩子率鹿群避難的方式迥異——一子魯莽晝行、損失慘重，另一子謹慎只在夜間潛行、毫髮無損——藉以說明舍利弗如何穩妥地勸回被提婆達多魯莽煽動出走的比丘眾。

A Jātaka about a Bodhisatta-deer whose two sons lead their herds to safety in different ways — one recklessly by day, losing most of his herd, the other prudently only under cover of night, losing none — told to illustrate how Sāriputta safely brought back monks whom Devadatta had recklessly persuaded to secede.
