不吉な前兆とともに生まれたため一家が村を追われた漁師の息子で、七歳のときサーリプッタによって出家し、阿羅漢果を得ながらも臨終まで托鉢の運に恵まれず苦しんだが、最期にサーリプッタが彼のためにきちんとした食事を確保した。

A fisherman’s son born under such an ill omen that his family was driven from their village, who was ordained by Sāriputta at age seven and, despite attaining Arahantship, remained plagued by chronic bad luck in receiving alms until his death, when Sāriputta finally secured him a proper meal.
