同じ洞窟に住むライオンと虎が、月の暗黒半月と明月半月のどちらが寒いかを論争し、隠者（菩薩）が寒さは光や闇ではなく風から来ると説明して解決するジャータカで、同じ論争をした二人の森住比丘に関連して語られた。

A Jātaka about a lion and a tiger sharing a cave who dispute whether the dark or light half of the month is colder, resolved by a hermit (the Bodhisatta) explaining that cold comes from wind rather than light or darkness — told with reference to two forest-dwelling monks who had the same dispute.
