같은 동굴에 사는 사자와 호랑이가 달의 흑분(어두운 반달)과 백분(밝은 반달) 중 어느 쪽이 더 추운지 논쟁하고, 은둔자(보디삿타)가 추위는 빛이나 어둠이 아니라 바람에서 온다고 설명하여 해결하는 자타카로, 같은 논쟁을 벌였던 두 숲속 거주 비구와 관련하여 이야기되었다.

A Jātaka about a lion and a tiger sharing a cave who dispute whether the dark or light half of the month is colder, resolved by a hermit (the Bodhisatta) explaining that cold comes from wind rather than light or darkness — told with reference to two forest-dwelling monks who had the same dispute.
