『中部』第五十経で、体内に入り込んだマーラに悩まされたマハー・モッガラーナが、当惑した誘惑者と対峙し、かつて自分自身がマーラであったとき過去の仏陀とその弟子たちへの迫害を扇動し、その結果地獄で恐ろしい苦しみを受けたことを語り、今のマーラに同じ運命を警告する経典である。

The fiftieth discourse of the Majjhimanikāya, in which Mahā-Moggallāna, troubled by Māra who has entered his body, confronts the discomfited tempter and recounts how he himself was once a Māra who provoked persecution against an earlier Buddha and his disciples, suffering terrible torment in hell as a result, warning the present Māra of the same fate.
