자신들의 수정 동굴에 비친 사자의 그림자에 겁먹은 멧돼지 무리가 진흙과 자신의 털로 수정을 흐리게 하려 헛되이 애쓰다가, 그곳에 사는 고행자가 수정은 더럽혀질 수 없다고 말해주는 자타카로, 순다리의 죽음을 둘러싸고 부처님을 중상하려던 이교도들의 실패한 시도와 관련해 설해졌다.

A birth story about a group of boars terrified by a lion’s reflection in their crystal cave, who try in vain to dull the crystal with mud and their own bristles until the resident ascetic tells them a crystal cannot be sullied, told in reference to heretics’ failed attempt to slander the Buddha over the death of Sundarī.
