마하마야의 여동생인 저명한 장로니로, 언니가 죽은 후 어린 부처를 키운 양모가 되었으며, 후에 승가에 출가 허락을 구하여 얻은 사캬족 여인들을 이끌어 최초로 출가한 여성 중 한 명이 되었다.
