  • A discourse taught to Ānanda near Kusinārā in which the Buddha reveals that the humble town was once Kusāvatī, the splendid royal city of the great wheel-turning monarch Mahāsudassana, who possessed the seven treasures of a Cakkavatti and eventually renounced his glory to practise the higher spiritual life.
