කුසිනාරාව අසල ආනන්ද වෙත දේශනා කරන ලද මෙම සූත්‍රයේදී, බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ මෙම නාගරිකයෙන් තොර නගරය එක් කලෙක සක්විති රජු මහාසුදස්සනගේ අලංකාර රාජධානිය කුසාවතී ලෙස තිබූ බව හෙළි කරති; සක්විති සම්පත් හත ලබා තිබූ එම රජු පසුව එම මහිමය අත්හැර උසස් ආධ්‍යාත්මික ජීවිතය ගත කිරීමට තීරණය කළේය

A discourse taught to Ānanda near Kusinārā in which the Buddha reveals that the humble town was once Kusāvatī, the splendid royal city of the great wheel-turning monarch Mahāsudassana, who possessed the seven treasures of a Cakkavatti and eventually renounced his glory to practise the higher spiritual life.
