此经是佛陀在 Kusinārā 为阿难所说：佛陀揭示这座简陋小城的前身正是华美的王城 Kusāvatī，转轮圣王 Mahāsudassana 曾拥有转轮七宝，后舍弃荣华修习更高的圣道。

A discourse taught to Ānanda near Kusinārā in which the Buddha reveals that the humble town was once Kusāvatī, the splendid royal city of the great wheel-turning monarch Mahāsudassana, who possessed the seven treasures of a Cakkavatti and eventually renounced his glory to practise the higher spiritual life.
