앙가국 밧디야나가라의 매우 부유한 거사로, 빔비사라 왕의 다섯 재무관 중 한 명이자 다난자야의 아버지이다. 부처님의 가르침으로 수다원과를 얻은 뒤 그의 집안은 곡식, 음식, 돈, 씨앗이 기적적으로 마르지 않고 넘쳐나는 것으로 유명해졌다.

A very wealthy householder of Bhaddiya-nagara in Aṅga, one of King Bimbisāra’s five treasurers and father of Dhanañjaya, whose household was famed for miraculous, inexhaustible supplies of grain, food, money and seed after he became a Stream-winner through the Buddha’s teaching.
