한때 부처님의 개인 시자로 봉사한 사꺄족 비구로, 망고 숲에서 홀로 명상하겠다고 고집하다 악한 생각에 압도되었으나, 돌아와 해탈의 다섯 조건에 관한 부처님의 가르침으로 아라한이 되었다.

A Sakyan monk who served for a time as the Buddha’s personal attendant; after insisting on meditating alone in a mango grove and being overwhelmed by evil thoughts, he returned and attained Arahantship through the Buddha’s teaching on the five conditions for liberation.
