데와남피야팃사 왕의 동생 마하나가가 로하나에 세운 사원으로, 후에 일라나가 왕이 복원했으며, 근처의 신성한 나무를 벤 죄로 벌을 받은 비구 이야기의 무대이기도 하다.

A monastery in Rohaṇa built by Mahānāga, brother of King Devānampiyatissa, later restored by King Iḷanāga, and the site of a story about a monk punished for felling a sacred tree near it.
