以与弥兰陀王（Milinda）论辩闻名的阿罗汉，婆罗门 Soṇuttara 之子，于 Rohaṇa 座下出家，先后随 Assagutta、Dhammarakkhita 修学，因前生曾发愿要驳倒弥兰陀王，终在 Sagala 与他相遇。

The Arahant celebrated for his philosophical dialogues with King Milinda, born to the brahmin Soṇuttara, who ordained under Rohaṇa, trained under Assagutta and Dhammarakkhita, and finally met the king at Sagala after a past-life aspiration to defeat him in debate.
