以與彌蘭陀王（Milinda）論辯聞名的阿羅漢，婆羅門 Soṇuttara 之子，於 Rohaṇa 座下出家，先後隨 Assagutta、Dhammarakkhita 修學，因前生曾發願要駁倒彌蘭陀王，終在 Sagala 與他相遇。

The Arahant celebrated for his philosophical dialogues with King Milinda, born to the brahmin Soṇuttara, who ordained under Rohaṇa, trained under Assagutta and Dhammarakkhita, and finally met the king at Sagala after a past-life aspiration to defeat him in debate.
