Nāga Sutta
Sutta王家の象の譬えに関する経で、より一般的にハッティラージャ経として知られる経と内容が同一である。
A discourse on the simile of the royal elephant, identical in content with the sutta more commonly known as the Hatthirāja Sutta.

Sutta在家の家に長居しすぎる年長の比丘の習慣を真似た沙弥を、熟練した老象と違って食べる前に泥のついた蓮の茎を洗えず病気になった若い象に仏陀が例える経。
A discourse in which the Buddha likens a novice who copied senior monks’ habit of lingering too long in lay households to young elephants who, unlike a skilled elder elephant, could not clean muddy lotus-stalks before eating and fell sick.

A discourse comparing monks who develop the Noble Eightfold Path to snakes of the Himalayas that grow ever larger after making their way into the sea.

Sutta王家の象に必要な四つの資質——よく聞くこと、よく討つこと、よく耐えること、よく歩くこと——を挙げ、比丘を世間の尊敬と供養にふさわしくする資質の比喩とする経。
A discourse listing four qualities required of a royal elephant — being a good listener, slayer, endurer and traveller — as an analogy for the qualities that make a monk worthy of the world’s respect and offerings.

Suttaナーゴーパマ経とも呼ばれる経で、人々がパセーナディ王の象セータに感嘆する中、仏陀は身・口・意に悪を犯さない者こそ真に偉大な存在であると説き、これによりウダーイーが仏陀をそのような象であると偈頌で讃えた。
A discourse, also known as the Nāgopama Sutta, in which the Buddha, after onlookers marvel at King Pasenadi’s elephant Seta, teaches that a truly great being is one who commits no wrong in deed, word or thought, prompting Udāyī to praise the Buddha in verse as such an elephant.

Sutta煩悩を清めるため孤独に退く比丘を、群れに疲れ離れて独りで生きる森の象に例える経。
A discourse comparing a monk who withdraws into solitude to purify himself of defilements to a forest elephant that, wearied of its herd, breaks away to live alone.
