마두핀디카 경을 듣고 출가한 카필라밧투의 사캬 가문 아라한으로, 파두뭇타라 부처님 시대에는 나라다라는 바라문으로서 게송으로 부처님을 찬양한 적이 있다.

An arahant of a Sakyan family in Kapilavatthu who entered the Order after hearing the Madhupiṇḍika Sutta, and who in Padumuttara Buddha’s time, as a brahmin named Nārada, had praised the Buddha in verse.

한동안 부처님의 개인 시자였으며, 사미 시하의 외삼촌으로, 뚱뚱하고 다소 게으르다고 묘사되며, 많은 일을 시하에게 시켰다.

The Buddha’s personal attendant for a time, maternal uncle of the novice Sīha, described as portly and rather indolent, who left much of his work to be done by Sīha.
