  • 一則本生故事,講一位自幼虔誠侍奉家傳祭火的婆羅門,在留下一頭母牛作供品外出取鹽時,牛被盜賊吃掉,只剩皮與尾巴,他憤而醒悟火神連自己的供品都護不住,遂熄滅聖火出家為苦行僧,此事與是否難行的苦行能獲得功德這一問題有關。

  • A Jātaka in which a brahmin who has devoutly tended a sacrificial fire since birth abandons it in disgust after thieves devour the cow he left as an offering while he was away, realizing the fire-god could not even protect his own gift, told in connection with a question about whether ascetics gain merit from difficult austerities.
