敬虔な商人の家に托鉢に行った森の苦行者が、誰もいないのを見て待たずに静かに立ち去ると、戻った商人が謝罪して再訪を請うたという本生譚で、新参の比丘が不適切な時刻に托鉢に行き、食べ物が残っていないことに腹を立てて在家の支援者を責めたことにちなんで説かれた。

A Jātaka about a forest ascetic who, finding no one home when he seeks alms at a devout merchant’s house, quietly departs rather than wait, prompting the returning merchant to apologize and invite him back, told about a newly ordained monk who visited at the wrong hours and angrily blamed his lay supporters when he found no food left.
