一則本生故事，講一位林中苦行者到一戶以虔誠聞名的商人家中乞食，見家中無人便悄然離去而不等候，商人歸來後連忙道歉並邀他再訪，此事講給一位新出家的比丘聽，他打聽到哪些在家人樂善好施後，卻因造訪時機不當、屢屢撲空而遷怒責罵那些施主人家。

A Jātaka about a forest ascetic who, finding no one home when he seeks alms at a devout merchant’s house, quietly departs rather than wait, prompting the returning merchant to apologize and invite him back, told about a newly ordained monk who visited at the wrong hours and angrily blamed his lay supporters when he found no food left.
