コーサンビーの川を流れる丸太を見た仏陀が、座礁せず、沈まず、腐らず、途中で掴まれることなく海へと流れる丸太に、比丘の涅槃への妨げなき進歩をたとえる経典で、最後に牛飼いナンダが教団に加わる。

A discourse in which the Buddha, seeing a log float down the river at Kosambī, compares a monk’s unhindered progress to nibbāna with a log that avoids grounding, sinking, rotting, or being seized along its way to the ocean, at the end of which the cowherd Nanda joins the Order.
