वन की एक गुफा में रहने वाला थेर, जिसका निर्दोष आचरण वहाँ निवास करने वाली देवी को इतना परेशान करता था कि उसने उसकी परीक्षा लेने के लिए एक संरक्षक के पुत्र से बीमारी का नाटक करवाया, किंतु यह योजना उलटी पड़ गई, जिससे थेर अपनी शुद्धता देखकर आनंदित हुआ और अर्हत्व प्राप्त किया।
