一位比丘，同修都已證得阿羅漢果唯獨他未能達成，於是徹夜精進以圖補救，卻因跌倒摔斷大腿，佛陀因此講述《伐樓那本生》說明拖延的過患。

A monk who alone failed to attain Arahantship with his companions and, striving all night to make up for it, broke his thigh in a fall, prompting the Buddha to tell the Varuṇa Jātaka on the evils of procrastination.
