貧しい婆羅門のパラーサ樹への信心が埋蔵された宝を得させたという次第を語るジャータカで、仏陀が涅槃の床で泣くアーナンダを慰めるために説かれ、アーナンダはその婆羅門と同一視される。

A Jātaka telling how a poor brahmin’s devotion to a Judas tree won him buried treasure, told by the Buddha on his deathbed to comfort the weeping Ānanda, who is identified with the brahmin.

黄金の雁として生まれた菩薩が、木の精の友に、榕樹の苗木が自分の木を破壊する前に抜き取るよう警告するジャータカで、小さな過ちさえも早期に取り除くべきことを示す。

A Jātaka in which the Bodhisatta, born as a golden goose, warns a tree-sprite friend to uproot a banyan seedling before it destroys his tree, illustrating that even small faults must be uprooted early.
