  • A brahmin of Vesāli, a Non-returner, who praised the Buddha’s wisdom so eloquently to Kāraṇapālī that the latter became a follower, and who on another occasion moved the Licchavī to shower him with garments meant for the Buddha.

  • The wife of King Brahmadatta who was caught in adultery with a royal groom and stripped of her rank, her tale being one told by Kuṇāla; the same name also belongs to a sutta on the Buddha’s praise before the Licchavī.
