වනවාසී තිස්ස මහතෙරුන්ට ලබා දුන් නම් සතරෙන් එකකි. ඔහු සැවැත්නුවරට පැමිණි විට නගරවාසීහු පාත්‍ර දහසක් හා සිවුරු දහසක් පිරිනමා ගරු කිරීමට තරඟ වූ අතර, ඒ සියල්ල ඔහු සංඝයාට පිරිනැමීය. මෙයට හේතුව පෙර ආත්මයක ඔහු මහතෙරෙකුට රෙදි කැබැල්ලක් පූජා කිරීමයි

One of the four names given to the elder Vanavāsī Tissa, bestowed because when he came to Sāvatthi the citizens vied to honour him with a thousand alms bowls and a thousand robes, all of which he gave to the Order, a result of his having once given a piece of cloth to an elder in a former life.
