アーパナの居士で、財産をすでに息子たちに譲っていたにもかかわらず仏陀に単に「居士」と呼ばれたことに気分を害したが、真の出離とははるかに深い意味を持つと知り、在家信者となった人物。

A householder of Āpaṇa who, after being addressed simply as ‘householder’ by the Buddha and taking offence at having already renounced his wealth to his sons, learned that true renunciation means far more, and became a follower.

上述の居士ポータリヤと同一人物と思われる遍歴行者で、仏陀との対話の末に自ら在家信者であると宣言した人物。

A wanderer, probably the same person as the householder Potaliya above, whose conversation with the Buddha ended with him declaring himself a follower.
