『맛지마니까야』의 백사십오 번째 경으로, 수나파란타(Sunāparanta) 출신 비구 뿐나(Puṇṇa)가 감각적 즐거움을 버리는 것에 대한 붓다의 가르침을 받고, 사나운 수나파란타 사람들 가운데 정착하여 많은 재가 신자를 세우고, 후에 최종 해탈에 이르렀다고 선언된다.

The one hundred and forty-fifth discourse of the Majjhimanikāya, in which the monk Puṇṇa of Sunāparanta receives the Buddha’s teaching on renouncing sensual delight, settles among the fierce people of Sunāparanta, establishes many lay disciples, and is later declared to have attained final liberation.
