බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගේ පිරිනිවීමෙන් පසු දෙවන ශතවර්ෂයේදී ජම්බුද්වීපයේ පහළ වූ මිථ්‍යා දෘෂ්ටිගත සම්ප්‍රදායන් දහහත අතුරින් එකකි, අන්ධක සම්ප්‍රදායට සම්බන්ධ වූ අතර, ටිබෙට් මූලාශ්‍ර අනුව පූර්ව පර්වතයේ වාසය කිරීම නිසා එම නම ලැබිණි.
