祭りの染め衣を望む妻の願いを叶えるため王宮の庭園から紅花を盗む貧しい男の物語で、捕まって処刑され、地獄に落ちてもなお満たされなかった妻の望みを嘆き続けるジャータカ。旧妻を恋しがる比丘にちなんで語られた。
