축제를 위한 물들인 옷을 원하는 아내의 소원을 들어주려고 왕실 정원에서 잇꽃을 훔치는 가난한 남자의 이야기로, 붙잡혀 처형되고 지옥에 떨어져서도 아내의 못 이룬 소원을 애통해하는 자타카이며, 옛 아내를 그리워하는 한 비구와 관련해 설해졌다.
