사왓티의 대상 우두머리 집안 출신 아라한으로, 재산을 탕진한 뒤 출가했으며, 살해당한 유녀의 처참한 시신을 보고 거의 광기에 빠질 뻔했으나 이를 극복하여 선정을 얻고 아라한과에 이르렀다

An Arahant from a caravan leader’s family of Sāvatthi who, after squandering his wealth, entered the Order and overcame near-madness upon seeing the mangled body of a murdered courtesan, subsequently attaining absorption and Arahantship.
