コーナーガマナ仏の時代にラージャガハに住んでいたと伝えられる人々で、当時ヴェープッラ山はヴァンカカと呼ばれていた。彼らは三万年生き、山を登るのに三日、下るのに三日を要した。

The legendary inhabitants of Rājagaha in the time of the Buddha Koṇāgamana, when Mount Vepulla was called Vaṅkaka and lived thirty thousand years, taking three days to climb the mountain and three to descend it.

前世で大海を跨ぐことができた仙人であった神で、旅によって生と死から自由な世界の果てに至れるかを仏陀に尋ね、その果ては道を通じて身体の内にのみ見出されると知った。

A deity who, in a former life a sage able to stride across oceans, asked the Buddha whether travel could reach the world’s end free of birth and death, and learned that this end is found only within the body through the path.
