見事に飾り立てた馬を賜り乗るたびに称賛される王師についての本生譚で、愚かな妻が称賛は馬具だけへのものだと言い張るので、自分でその馬具を身につけたところ屈辱を受けることになり、妻を罰しようとするが、女はみな欠点だらけだからと王に説得されて許すという話である。

A Jātaka about a royal chaplain who receives a splendidly caparisoned horse and is admired wherever he rides, until his foolish wife insists the admiration is for the trappings alone, so he wears the horse’s ornaments himself and is humiliated instead, resolving to punish her until the king persuades him to forgive her, since all womankind is full of faults.
