ชาดกเล่าถึงปุโรหิตหลวงที่ได้รับม้าประดับอย่างงดงามและเป็นที่ชื่นชมทุกครั้งที่ขี่ไป จนภรรยาผู้โง่เขลายืนกรานว่าคนชื่นชมเพียงเครื่องประดับม้า เขาจึงสวมเครื่องประดับนั้นเองแล้วกลับได้รับความอับอายแทน จนตั้งใจจะลงโทษนาง แต่พระราชาทรงชักชวนให้ให้อภัย เพราะสตรีทั้งปวงล้วนมีข้อบกพร่อง

A Jātaka about a royal chaplain who receives a splendidly caparisoned horse and is admired wherever he rides, until his foolish wife insists the admiration is for the trappings alone, so he wears the horse’s ornaments himself and is humiliated instead, resolving to punish her until the king persuades him to forgive her, since all womankind is full of faults.
