훗날 보살이 될 소년이 마을 의사에게 속아 고슴도치로 착각한 뱀을 잡으러 가고, 그 뱀이 결국 의사 자신을 물어 죽이는 자타카로, 데바닷따의 부처님 시해 시도와 관련해 설해졌다.

A Jātaka about a boy, later the Bodhisatta, tricked by a village doctor into fetching a snake he mistook for a hedgehog, whose bite then kills the doctor himself, told in connection with Devadatta’s attempts on the Buddha’s life.
