パガンにおいてチャパタ（サッダンマジョーティパーラ）と彼の四人の仲間——ラーフラ、アーナンダ、シーヴァリ、ターマリンダ——によって創設された僧団。当初は王室の庇護を受けたが、後にスリランカから来た長老それぞれに従う四つの分派に分裂した。

A monastic fraternity founded in Pagan by Chapaṭa (Saddhammajotipāla) and his four companions — Rāhula, Ānanda, Sīvalī, and Tāmalinda — which first enjoyed royal patronage before splitting into four branches, each following one of the elders who had come from Sri Lanka.
