एक जातक कथा जिसमें एक राजा के सौ पुत्रों में सबसे छोटा, अपने गुरु की सलाह से मार्गदर्शित होकर, प्रजा का स्नेह जीतता है और पिता की मृत्यु के बाद राजा बनाया जाता है, फिर उत्तराधिकार को भाइयों में बाँटकर उनकी नाराज़गी शांत करता है, यह अपनी साधना त्याग चुके एक भिक्षु को सुनाई गई, जिसमें राजकुमार को उस भिक्षु तथा एक भाई को सारिपुत्त के रूप में पहचाना गया।

A Jātaka about the youngest of a king’s hundred sons who, guided by his teacher’s counsel, wins the people’s affection and is made king after his father’s death, then defuses his elder brothers’ resentment by dividing the inheritance among them, told to a monk who had abandoned his practice, with the prince identified with that monk and one brother with Sāriputta.
