ヴェートゥッラヴァーダを奉じるチョーラ族の比丘。スリランカ王室の寵愛を得て、マハーセーナ王を説き大寺への支援を打ち切らせ、ローハパーサーダを解体させたが、王が離反した後暗殺された。

A Coḷa monk and adherent of the Vetullavāda who won royal favour in Sri Lanka, persuaded King Mahāsena to strip the Mahāvihāra of support and dismantle the Lohapāsāda, and was eventually assassinated after the king turned against him.

アショーカ王の娘でマヒンダの妹。兄とともに出家し、後に菩提樹の一枝を携えてスリランカへ渡り、その地に比丘尼僧団を樹立した。

Daughter of Asoka and sister of Mahinda, who was ordained together with him and later sailed to Sri Lanka with a branch of the Bodhi tree to establish the nuns’ Order there.
